summary

Summary Explanation/Background:

Approval of this Resolution will allow Public Art Committee (PAC) to roll over four (4) previously approved Public Art Projects (Resolution # 2020-93) and one (1) previously approved Grant (Resolution #2020-165) from FY 2020 to FY 2021.

In accordance with Chapter 160.04(F) of the City Code of Ordinances, the Public Art Committee is responsible for submitting an annual report to the City Commission each year at the end of the 12-month term. The report describes the Committee's accomplishments over the past year, gives the status of current projects, provides information on any future plans, and includes an inventory of public art in the City.

The FY2021 Annual Plan includes current Public Art Program accomplishments, the status of public art projects in progress, proposals for future projects and an updated inventory and budget.

There were four (4) projects proposed for FY 2020. Due to COVID-19, the projects planned for FY 2020 were postponed. As a result, the Committee moved all FY 2020 projects to FY 2021 with the addition of the Community Foundation of Broward: Art of Community Grant that was awarded to the City. The budget for FY 2021 is $195,150.00. There is currently $137,901.00 in Public Art Funds plus $200,000.00 from the Capital Improvement Plan creating a total of $337,901.00 available for Public Art.

The PAC and staff are recommending approval of this Resolution for the Public Art FY 2021 Annual Plan.

In accordance with Section § 160.04   POWERS AND DUTIES OF THE COMMITTEE, the Public Art Committee has the authority to make recommendations to the City Commission on art, artist selection and artwork location.
