summary

Summary Explanation/Background:

On May 25, 2001 the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and the City of Pompano Beach entered into a Joint Partnership Agreement (JPA) that paved the way for the City to receive $679,153.00 towards resurfacing SR A1A from Sunset Lane to SE 1st Street (see Location Map). The JPA was the prelude of two (2) additional agreements: Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) regarding the installation and maintenance of landscape material  (approved by the City Commission on May 10, 2022), and a Construction Agreement (CA), the subject of this Resolution. The CA outlines the requirements to be observed by the City in the construction of streetscape improvements. As indicated in the agreement, the main objectives of the project are “to extend the life of the existing pavement through milling and resurfacing and to provide safety enhancements that include replacement of curb ramps to meet ADA, streetscape improvements, lighting, pavement markings and signalization modifications.” The City retained a team of professionals including Keith Team and Kimley-Horn to assist with design and permitting, and Burkhardt Construction to act as the Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR). The CMAR will oversee all construction efforts as per the attached approved plans. Staff recommends approval of this Resolution.
