summary
Summary Explanation/Background:
This is staff’s recommendation for the City’s Annual Community Partnerships Program for FY 2024 period: October 1, 2023 - September 30, 2024.
Prior to entering into an agreement with each non-organization, the City has determined that these non-profits serve a valid public purpose and perform or provide services that are beneficial to the residents and the City of Pompano Beach. In addition, the City is currently not in a position to provide such services on its own, thus the City is expanding its services provided to the residents through these organizations.
The variety of non-profit organizations recommended to get funded, work to complement the City’s goals and objectives with programs or services that fall within our three (3) funding priorities:
1. Preferred Place to Live:
- Education
Education Category Expansion: Programs/events that stimulate cognitive and social emotional learning and career pathway interest of teens with the use of technology including but not limited to: STEM education, cybersecurity and e-sports.
- Behavioral Health
New Category: Programs/events that help residents (including youth and families) who have substance use disorders, mental health disorders or co-occurring mental and substance use disorders with treatment, recovery support services and prevention. Programs/events that improve behavioral health outcomes for residents by reducing rates of hospitalization, mortality, substance use, and involvement with the criminal justice system. Programs/events that support the prevention and reduction of community violence, including those most at risk of experiencing community violence, including youth, racial and ethnic minority groups, and disadvantaged or underserved groups.
- Senior Services
2. Preferred Place to Do Business
- Workforce Readiness
3. Preferred Place to Visit
- Community Events and Preserving Cultural Heritage
