summary

Summary Explanation/Background:

Staff is proposing amendments to the City’s Parking Ordinance regulations.  This is done periodically in order to better align parking regulations with the needs of the Parking Enterprise System, as development continues to get underway in the City.   The Parking Enterprise System is integral to supporting area businesses, as well as the residents and visitors who frequent and support those establishments.   The City’s parking inventory is primarily located on the barrier island, which has experienced major redevelopment over the past years, notably the addition of the Beach House, Oceanic and Lucky Fish establishments in recent years.   The Parking Enterprise Fund’s support of these major additions to the City has attracted residents and visitors, further providing for an economic boost to the City by creating jobs, as well as the generation of property taxes, tax increment and non-property tax revenues which supports programs and services in the City’s General Fund.  Please refer to the attached memorandum for additional discussion.
