summary

Summary Explanation/Background:

The Development Services Department has prepared a text amendment to Chapter 155, which creates a new automotive use for vinyl wrapping and tinting facilities within the city. Vinyl wrapping and tinting of automobiles was previously included within the “Automotive Repair and Maintenance Facility” use category. Staff has determined that if a business is limited to the vinyl wrapping of a vehicle or tinting of windows then it is a less intensive use than a repair and maintenance facility. Therefore, vinyl wrapping and tinting is being separated into its own individual use category. The definition of the use is provided in the ordinance.

This proposed text amendment was presented to the Planning and Zoning Board (PZB) in combination with the proposed text amendment for outdoor storage clarification. The City Attorney determined that two separate ordinances for the outdoor storage amendments and the proposed use of a vinyl wrapping or tinting facility was the preferred approach. The PZB Staff report for this amendment is combined with the outdoor storage amendment. At the PZB meeting both amendments received a unanimous recommendation of approval.
