summary
Summary Explanation/Background:
At the June 22, 2022 Planning & Zoning Board Meeting, the Board recommended approval of a publicly initiated amendment to the Live! Resorts Pompano PCD (Ordinance 2021-02, Exhibit B). The Applicant, the Live! Resorts Pompano PCD Master Developer represented by Debbie Orshefsky, is requesting approval of a Sign Plan specific to the Live! Resorts Pompano project. The Sign Plan for the Live! Resorts Pompano development is intended to reflect the scale and intensity of the permitted development of the district, distinguishing the unique character of the district, and providing visitors, residents, or businesses within the district safe and clear signage regulation.
This plan will regulate future signage for this PD District only. The applicant seeks to incorporate a Sign Plan into the PD Plan as an additional exhibit. The Ordinance includes the proposed text amendments, which provide an updated table of contents for the PD Plan as well as a new exhibit (Exhibit “W”) to the PD Plan. The full PD Plan (Exhibit B of Ordinance 2021-02) as previously approved is provided for reference. Please refer to the Staff Report prepared for the Planning and Zoning Board for additional analysis.
Following the first reading of this Ordinance, the applicant has (1) removed the request for general advertising and clarified that identification of off-premise sponsors for on-premise locations and events is permitted within signage; (2) reduced the number of Pylon Signs to two total (only one along the perimeter of the site, the other within the interior; rather than 6 along the perimeter and an unlimited amount within the interior) and reduced the size of the Pylon Sign to 650 sf (from 800 sf); (3) clarified that a roof sign may not extend more than 10 feet above the highest point of the roof (rather than not exceed the height of the zoning district); (4) reduced the maximum square feet of signage allowed per building façade to 2000 sf (from 2500 sf).
To bring your attention to these changes since first reading a “Changes Marked” version of the Ordinance is included in the backup.
