summary

Summary Explanation/Background:

The Utilities Department requests City Commission approval to execute Amendment No. 13284 to Professional Consulting Agreement No. 12573 with McCafferty Brinson Consulting, LLC (MBC), for additional design-phase and construction-phase engineering services associated with the Water Treatment Plant Improvement Project. The original agreement was approved by City Commission on November 12, 2024, pursuant to Resolution No. 2025-21.

Amendment No. 1 eliminates Task 4, which is no longer required due to the City securing sufficient Biscayne Aquifer raw-water allocation to meet projected potable-water demand through 2065, and adds Tasks 5 through 15 for additional engineering services associated with the deep injection well, corrosion control, asset management, Eastern Wellfield improvements, and the nanofiltration facility buildout. Approval supports the City’s Strategic Plan objective to expand and enhance utility infrastructure and will provide for the continued implementation of critical Water Treatment Plant improvements.
