Title: Presentation by Broward County Mayor Lamar Fisher Broward County Mayor Lamar Fisher thanked the Commission and said his goal this year is to visit all 31 cities, with Pompano Beach being the 26th city. He stated he understands the dynamic of the County and the cities, and they want the communications to be open. He informed Comr. Moss that, as of yesterday, Broward County is the proud owner of the Motel 6 on NW 31st Avenue and they look forward to developing it with affordable housing. He said his door is always open and his theme this year is "Community, Collaboration, and Community." He intends to tackle Pompano Beach's items; however, he acknowledged the misunderstanding about the Coastal Community Rail and Local Preferred Alternative Initiatives. Vice Mayor McGee said she is ecstatic to hear the update on the North Corridor train lines. County Mayor Fisher stated the focus has been a 25-foot bridge over the New River with cut and covers. He said there are federal grants available, but it is imperative to secure funding now.

 

Mayor Hardin said the cut and cover being discussed with Fort Lauderdale is an interesting concept.
