Summary Explanation/Background:
Staff is seeking City Commission approval of an Ordinance to reinstate an existing contract and execute a first amendment to the agreement between the City and West Construction, Inc. (“West”) Approval will allow West to assist the City with additional design services geared to the future construction of a second floor addition to the existing Ocean Rescue Building (see Location Map). Please refer to Exhibits “A-D” for details of West’s proposal as well as background information. Note that the proposed addition is a distinct and separate effort from the GO Bond initiative to conduct improvements to the 1st floor as the design and construction of the second floor, under separate contracts that are being created, are delaying the ability to complete the scope of work on the first floor under this agreement and therefore an extension is needed. Staff recommends approval.
