summary
Summary Explanation/Background:
The attached agreement provides for a three-year contract between the City of Pompano Beach and the Broward Sheriff's Office (BSO) for the continued provision of law enforcement services. The agreement also includes two optional three-year renewal terms, subject to mutual agreement of the parties, providing the City with long-term service continuity while maintaining opportunities for future review and negotiation.

The proposed contract incorporates several key revisions that reflect the City's operational priorities and strengthen the administration of the agreement. The contract includes an annual cost increase cap of five percent (5%), providing greater predictability for budgeting and financial planning. A 90-day termination provision has also been included, allowing either party to terminate the agreement with appropriate notice. Additionally, the transition language has been revised to better define the parties' responsibilities in the event of contract expiration or termination and to help ensure an orderly transition of services.

The agreement maintains the current authorized staffing levels for law enforcement services and includes amendments to clarify reporting requirements and enhance accountability. Revisions have also been made to the definition of the District Captain, as well as the process for the selection of the District Captain, to provide greater control.
