Summary Explanation/Background:
Per 92.16(A) it shall be the duty of the City Commission to fix prices of all lots in the cemetery and to set charges for opening graves and other work carried on by the cemetery. Six municipal South Florida cemeteries were reviewed for a cost comparison of grave plot pricing and service (open/closing) charges. The City’s cemetery pricing for grave plots was close to the average and the service charges were significantly below average. The service charges have not been adjusted since July 2012. Each September all local funeral homes are provided an updated pricing brochure so they can share with individuals seeking their services with a desire to be interred in the City’s cemetery.
