Summary Explanation/Background:
Staff is seeking City Commission approval of a Resolution to ratify the appropriation of $298,213.23 authorized by the City Manager while the City Commission was on hiatus during the month of August 2022. The purpose of said appropriation was to compensate Verdex Construction, Inc. for unanticipated expenses related to the GO Bond Senior Activity Center project (see Location Map) whereas Verdex had to pay unit price increases for construction materials; spend additional funds for unforeseen site conditions (removal of underground storage tank); address plan modifications after the fact and install equipment that was not in the original plans; address electrical plan changes; respond to Building Department requirements that were not included in the original scope of work, to name a few (see Senior Center Change Order 2). These items have been vetted and discussed in detail with the City Manager in a meeting that included Verdex’s upper management and City staff. An approval is recommended.

Fiscal impact and source of funding: $298,213.23 - Funds will be transferred from General Fund Balance and GOB Fund Balance to fund A/C# 302-7647-572-65-12 and 323-7647-572-65-12.
