summary
Summary Explanation/Background:
Approval of this Resolution will allow the Lead Artist, Sonata Kazimieraitiene, of the Public Art program entitled Mosaic Team Term 2 to design, fabricate, and install a floor mosaic "trail" located in the sidewalk starting at the Great Lawn and stretching northward to the Pompano Municipal Pier.

The City of Pompano Beach is preparing to complete the Mosaic Team Term 2 project which will consist of approximately one hundred (100) floor mosaic tiles varying in sizes from six inch diameter to twelve inch diameter. The mosaic tiles will consist of various materials suitable for outside flooring. The theme of the mosaic "trail" is sea life. Similar to the "Trail of the Honey Bees" project, which was part of the Mosaic Team Term 1 program, this "trail" will encourage pedestrians to go on scavenger hunt searching for the next artwork. This project will enhance the beach experience for the visitors and local community by creating visual and education benefits while promoting exercise for people of all ages.

The Artist Agreement and Resolution #2020-94 were signed and approved by the City Commission on January 14, 2020. The Agreement states that the artist, Sonata Kazimieraitiene, will produce the design, fabrication, and installation of a floor mural in the sidewalk located to the north of the Great Lawn within one (1) year. At its February 20, 2020 meeting, the Public Art Committee (PAC) unanimously recommended approval of the design and location for this project.

The Public Art Committee and staff recommend approval of this Resolution...
