summary

Summary Explanation/Background:

The FAA policy for General Aviation runway rehabilitation is if the Pavement Condition Index (PCI) is below 65. The PCI for Runway 10-28 is divided into two sections. Section 1 consists of the majority of the runway and it is expected to have a PCI of 55 in 2025. Section 2 is expected to have a PCI of 76. The Area-Weighted Average PCI is anticipated to be at 65 in the year 2025. Also, where Taxiway Kilo enters Runway 10, there is a wide expanse of pavement that increases the risk of pilot loss of situational awareness. The correction of the wide expansive pavement is to be corrected with this rehabilitation. This will prolong the use of the Airpark’s runway by 15-20 years and reduce the risk of pilot loss of situation awareness on taxiway Kilo at the entrance of Runway 10.

Origin of request for this action: Airpark

Fiscal impact and source of funding: Total project amount is estimated at $719,612.00. The FAA will fund 90% of the project cost, FDOT has committed to fund 5% ($36,000) and the Air Park share is 5% ($36,000). The Air Park match will be funded from account 465-7766-542-65-03
