Summary Explanation/Background:
The proposed text amendment seeks to provide an alternative sign-type for properties within the overlay districts. The guidelines for signs designed properties within the overlay districts are more prescriptive than other areas of the city & limited to wall mounted signs (flat, blades and brackets), or a monument sign. Alternative designs that don’t fit the definition of these guidelines cannot be approved; however, this proposal seeks to allow the Development Services Director to consider different sign types provided that the sign area does not exceed 6 square feet. A letter of no objection from the CRA has been included with the back-up.
