The resolution is to enter into an agreement with Health Foundation of South Florida to accept $71,225 in grant funds (Grant #19-05134). The City has been awarded a grant in the amount of $71,225 and will be providing matching funds of $146,155 from the G.O. Bond designated for the McNair Park Improvements project. This agreement is for the execution of the 2019 Healthy Environments Supporting Physical Activity Grant regarding the replacement of old exercise equipment in McNair Park.
Funding in the amount of $71,255 has been granted from Health Foundation of South Florida will be used for the addition of an outdoor, covered exercise area geared toward multigenerational users of all abilities, transforming McNair Park into a multipurpose, recreational facility that welcomes all to play, socialize and be healthy.
The exercise equipment currently installed in McNair Park is old and out dated and only used by approximately 5-10 people per month. We currently have 300 children who use the park as part of our youth football program and an additional 100 children in the basketball program. There are 100-200 parents who come to the park to watch their children practice and compete. The park is adjacent to Cross Creek Public School and a Broward County Library.
