Summary Explanation/Background:
This is a City-initiated request by Michael Vonder Meulen of Keith, Inc., on behalf of the City of Pompano Beach as the property owner. The City intends to redevelop the property known as Oceanside, which currently contains a surface parking lot, a fire station, a retention facility, and library, as a hotel, meeting/conference space, commercial space, public parking garage and new infrastructure. The existing plat note currently reads “This Plat is restricted to 13,365 square feet of fire station.” The proposed plat note would read “This Plat is restricted to 13,365 square feet of fire station, 5,000 SF of library, 300 hotel rooms, 50,000 square feet of commercial use and a parking garage.” No site plan has been submitted as yet. Staff has no objections to the change.
