Summary Explanation/Background:

Staff is seeking approval of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Azur and the Floridians. The MOU will allow the applicants to start the approval process with Broward County and various City Departments to construct a state-of-the-art Sports Complex facility at the City’s 12-Acre park in Palm Aire. This is the first step in what Staff anticipates will be a lengthy approval process that will lead both parties to enter into a Development Agreement and lease options. Staff recommends approval

 

Origin of request for this action: CIP/City Manager’s Office

Fiscal impact and source of funding: $1.5 million from General Fund - Fund Balance.  It is anticipated that the City will be provided a Voluntary Cleanup Tax Credit from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection for up to 75% of the costs to remediate.
