summary
Summary Explanation/Background:
The City of Pompano Beach is preparing to go into an Agreement with Andrew Hayes for a six (6) month period. A Call to Artists was posted October 2, 2023, with a deadline of October 30, 2023. Seventy-nine (79) artists submitted applications; fifty-eight (58) applications met requirements. At the February 15, 2024 PAC Meeting, the Committee selected Andrew Hayes to complete the community engagement activities and mural. The community engagement activities will be done at Blanche Aly High School and the mural will be located on an exterior wall at 1201 NW 6th Ave, Pompano Beach, FL 33060. The community engagement activities will be used to inspired the final mural creation. That Agreement is for $23,000.00 and, per the Public Art Master Plan Guidelines, does not need to go before the City Commission for approval.

The City is entering into an Agreement with the School Board of Broward County for use of the wall space where the mural will be installed. The Artist and City Staff have been working with the Blanche Ely High School Art Teacher and Contract Administrator to organize the engagements and final mural.
