summary
Summary Explanation/Background:
Pursuant to State Statute 200.065, taxing authorities are required to adopt fiscal year tentative and final millage rates and a citywide budget at the first and final public hearings. At the public hearings, the rolled-back rate, the percentage of increase over the rolled-back rate, and the millage rate to be levied must be publicly read.
FY 2026, the proposed EMS millage rate is capped at 0.5000.
The percentage increase over the rolled-back rate is calculated as follows:
[(current year millage rate ÷ current year rolled-back rate) - 1.00] x 100
[(0.5000/0.4630) - 1.00] x 100 = 7.99%
This increase in property taxes is due to the increase in the City’s assessed valuation of taxable property on the 2025 Tax Roll.
The City’s FY 2026 Recommended Budget books are published on the City’s Budget Office webpage: https://www.pompanobeachfl.gov/government/budget.
Per State Statute, the FY 2026 Adopted Budget books will be published on the City’s Budget Office webpage https://www.pompanobeachfl.gov/government/budget within 30 days of the budget’s final adoption.
