Summary Explanation/Background:

The City’s Office of Housing and Urban Improvement has expressed an interest in acquiring the property located at 433 NW 7th Avenue to construct affordable housing.   The property owner has agreed to quitclaim convey the property to the City in exchange for the release of City liens described in City Attorney communication #2018-62, as attached.   Although the property does have $634,000 in liens, it should be noted that only approximately $4,000 of this amount represents actual out of pocket costs to the City.  The Broward property Appraiser is currently reporting a 2017 Just/Market value for the property of $22,520.  Staff recommends approval of this item as it is in the best interest of the public to eliminate blight within our community, while simultaneously providing for affordable housing.
