summary

Summary Explanation/Background:

The grant agreement between the City of Pompano Beach and the State of Florida Department of Health is intended to assist the City in further establishing and maintaining its Community Action Support Team (CAST) program. The City identified DOH’s post-overdose co-responder (CoRe) grant program as an ideal opportunity to complement the City’s CAST program that links people who use drugs (PWUD) to services. Services include harm reduction services and linkage to care and social support services. To support Ms. Cassandra Rhett, our Housing and Social Services Manager, the grant will also provide contract staffing for a Peer Support Specialist and a Program Coordinator to assist with grant compliance. The grant will award up to $349,000 for the one-year period from September 1, 2025, through August 31, 2026.

Please refer to the memorandum titled Department Memo, included as backup, for additional details.
