summary
Summary Explanation/Background:
The City participates in the Community Ratings System (CRS) administered by the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). We will be visited by an NFIP representative for auditing this September to validate our rating of Class 6 (which qualifies all Pompano Beach policyholders for an automatic 20% discount on flood insurance premiums). In order to maintain our credit under the CRS program we must update and reapprove our Program for Public Information (PPI), which was first established in 2018. A PPI Committee was created this spring and thereafter an amended Program was agreed upon and finalized. Outcomes of the PPI include an annual Flood Hazard brochure that is delivered to all addresses within the City, targeted mailers to flood prone areas and properties advocating the benefits of flood insurance, and collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce, Newspapers, Utilities, and other organizations with flood insurance promotion outreach materials. The PPI is required to be adopted by Commission to receive CRS credit.
