summary

Summary Explanation/Background:

Staff is seeking City Commission approval of a Resolution to execute the First Amendment to an existing Interlocal Agreement between Broward County and the City. This second amendment is necessary for the City to receive $1,656,670.40 in supplemental funds. These funds were approved by Broward County due to price increases and market changes since the original Penny for Transportation (Surtax) was approved in 2018. Broward County adopted and approved funds equal to an 11.9% increase from the original grant award ($13,921,600.00). As such, the City is now eligible to receive a grand total of $15,578,279.40 for work related to Segment #2 (Dixie Highway from SW 1st Street to Copans Road, and Atlantic Boulevard from NW 6th Avenue to Cypress Road). Staff recommends approval of this Resolution.

Origin of request for this action: GO Bond

Fiscal impact and source of funding: City to receive $1,656,670.40 from Broward County as supplemental funds (11.9% added due to cost increases).  Amount to be added to owner contingency for the project.
