Summary Explanation/Background:
Staff is seeking City Commission approval of a Resolution to enter into a Construction Agreement (CA) with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). This agreement will allow the City to conduct streetscape improvements on SR A1A from Atlantic Boulevard to the Hillsboro Inlet (see Location Map). This agreement is the last document to be executed as a function of FDOT's permitting process and it memorializes the City's responsibilities to conduct work on a State roadway (SR A1A). The work will be carried out by Burkhardt Construction (BCA), City's Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) as per plans designed by Keith Team and Kimley-Horn, both FDOT-approved and certified designers acting on behalf of the City. In the near future, the City is expected to receive $600k from FDOT, but a separate agreement will need to be executed to acknowledge a FDOT grant. In the meantime, BCA is working on undergrounding overhead utilities along the same segment while focusing on streetscape work south of Atlantic Boulevard. Staff recommends approval.
