summary
Summary Explanation/Background:
Utilities seeks approval to enter into an Interlocal Agreement with Broward County to participate in the Broward Rapid Alert and Information Network (RAIN) program. This partnership will facilitate the installation of approximately 10 to 20 real-time monitoring sites throughout the Pompano Beach service area.
Through this program, the City will receive advanced flood monitoring equipment and data integration capabilities at a significantly reduced cost, leveraging County, State, and Federal funding sources. The RAIN system will provide real-time hydrologic data, enhancing the City's ability to monitor rainfall, canal levels, and localized flooding conditions.
Participation in the RAIN program supports the City's stormwater resilience and flood mitigation strategy by improving situational awareness and enabling more proactive operational responses. The enhanced data will allow Public Works and emergency operations personnel to respond more quickly and effectively to flooding events, reducing potential impacts to residents and infrastructure.
