summary
Summary Explanation/Background:
To accommodate a construction project on I-95, FDOT needs to relocate several trees. This Joint Participation Agreement establishes that FDOT will pay the City $14,665 to relocate 97 palm trees to city property where their scenic value can be appreciated. Estimated cost to relocate these trees by contract is $100K. It would be difficult to find trees this mature in a nursery; however, if found the cost to purchase, transport and plant would cost approximately $320K. The contract to relocate the 97 trees will be presented for Commission approval at a future meeting.
Origin of request for this action: FDOT, District 4
Fiscal impact and source of funding: $14,665 paid to City. Approximate cost of $120K to re-locate trees by contract to be paid from Canopy Tree Trust Fund.
