Summary Explanation/Background:
The Development Services Department continues to seek ways to fulfill the City's Strategic Plan objectives of strengthening Pompano Beach as a "Preferred Place to do Business" and enhancing the City's reputation as being "business friendly." The proposed text amendments will address the Landscape Code Amendments action item from the 2019 Strategic Plan. This and several other Strategic Planning action items are intended to ensure the City's processes are both clear and streamlined. Generally speaking, this text amendment seeks to do four things: (1) add 5 years to the parking extension to aid minor redevelopment in the Atlantic Boulevard Overlay District (AOD) and the East Overlay District (EOD), (2) allow deviations to the landscaping widths required by code, if "superior landscaping" features (above and beyond the requirement to use sod) is provided, (3) provide an exemption to the mechanical equipment screening, when the intent...
