Summary Explanation/Background:
The City is partnering with Broward County Sheriff’s Office to host a gun buy back event in which participants can receive up to $150 in gift cards depending on the gun that is turned in. The rewards will be funded by the Pompano Beach Law Enforcement Trust Fund (local).
LETF funds may only be used for the specific purposes set out in section 932.7055, Florida Statutes, including but not limited to crime prevention and safe neighborhood programs. The gun buy back event was initially scheduled for June 4th, but was postponed due to bad weather. It will be rescheduled at a date to be determined.
