summary

Summary Explanation/Background:

The City’s water and reuse distribution system comprises approximately 20,174 meters for customer consumptive use. Last overhauled in 2011, these meters have exceeded their warranty period and are nearing the end of their expected lifespan. Under the new contract, the City will upgrade the meters and install new residential backflow devices promptly to safeguard the water system in accordance with Florida Statute 62-555.360(1) on Cross-Connection Control for Public Water Systems. The installation will be scheduled with advanced notice and carefully sequenced to minimize customer inconvenience, ensure water safety, and integrate appropriately with AT&T’s FirstNet network for first responders, thereby supporting accurate billing. Ultimately, this City utility bond project will further streamline service delivery and enhance system resilience for years to come.
