summary

Summary Explanation/Background:

The Applicant, Tara-Lynn Patton of Planning and Entitlements, on behalf of Pompano Pickle, LLC., is requesting the abandonment of a 14-foot-wide Alley right-of-way that runs east/west between NE 2nd and NE 3rd Avenues. The applicant is proposing to construct an indoor/outdoor pickleball facility on most of the block adjacent to the alley. There are FPL lines overhead and Comcast lines underground within the alley right-of-way. The applicant will be relocating the FPL lines underground and providing easements for these two utility companies. There is one lot within the block that is not owned by the applicant and that property owner has submitted a letter of support for the abandonment. This abandonment request was unanimously recommended for approval at the July 23, 2025 Planning & Zoning Board hearing with two conditions, which have been satisfied. Staff recommends approval.

Origin of request for this action: Tara-Lynn Patton of Planning and Entitlements, on behalf of Pompano Pickle, LLC.
