summary

Summary Explanation/Background:

The proposed agreement allows the Broward County Supervisor of Elections (SOE) to take charge of printing ballots and to recruit, hire, assign, and train the required number of poll workers for the upcoming November 2026 General Election, following the same procedures as in previous elections. For candidate-only municipal elections held alongside county, state, or federal elections, no election fee is charged. However, if the Commission opts to place a referendum on the ballot for voters, the SOE will charge a standard fee of $177,974.10, with a maximum cap of $197,111.10. This fee structure is outlined in Exhibit A of the agreement. The SOE determined these fees based on the total number of registered voters, which was 63,790 as of March 25, 2025, multiplied by $2.79 per voter for any ballot question(s) presented by the City, along with additional costs for extra ballot pages. Specifically, one extra page would cost $187,542.60 at the rate of $2.94 per registered voter, while two extra pages would total $197,111.10 at $3.09 per registered voter.
