Award Presentation by Smart Growth Partnership
Horacio Danovich, Stegia LLC, introduced Nadia Locke, Chair of the Recognition Committee from Smart Growth Partnership, who congratulated the City and presented the Smart Growth Excellence award for the Pompano Beach Youth Sports Complex Park, located on the former Elks Lodge property. Ms. Locke briefly spoke about the purpose of Smart Growth Partnership, stating that their mission is to educate and advocate for the incorporation of smart growth principles into new developments and helping to create communities where people desire to live. She then recognized Kim Pearson, Former Pompano Beach Urban Forester, who is also a member of Smart Growth Partnership.
Ms. Pearson spoke about the protection and preservation of tree canopy in park facilities. She too congratulated the City on its achievement.
Ms. Locke recognized Mariann Winfield, member of the Recognition Committee from Smart Growth Partnership who was also in attendance.
