summary
Summary Explanation/Background:
On April 20, 2016, the County and City entered into an Interlocal Agreement (ILA) providing for the restoration and replenishment of the beach within the City's portion of Segment II of the Shore Protection Project and providing for the City to reimburse the County for a portion of the local share of Project costs. The project is now 70% complete but an amendment to the ILA is required to extend termination date of the ILA and establish the revised dates of when the City's Cost share payments to Broward County are due. Thus far the project has cost $51.4M with a balance of $20.1M to complete, all of which is being paid by Broward County. Federal reimbursement funding of $39.33M is expected in the future.
Based on initial the terms of the ILA the City is required to pay a cost share for the sand placed on our shoreline. This cost is $2.25M which will be paid in 3 equal payments beginning November 15, 2022. ($750K/year for 3 years.) Assuming the Federal reimbursement of $39.33M is received, final total cost paid by City is reduced to $850K.

Origin of request for this action: Broward County Resilient Environmental Department
Fiscal impact and source of funding: $2,250,000, first of 3 invoices @ $750,000 due November 15, 2022; CIP 14-223; 302-7501-530.65-12
