Summary Explanation/Background:
This agenda item approves the 2020-2021 Annual Action Plan in the amount of $1,042,671 of CDBG Funds, $842,961 of CDBG-CV 3rd round and $453,413 of HOME funds for a total of $2,339,045.
CDBG and HOME RFP's were scored by Suzanne Fejes, Assistant Director of the Broward County Housing Finance and Community Development Division; Karen Santen, City of Pompano Beach Grants Coordinator and Yvette Lopez, Manager of Community Development Broward County. A copy of their individual scoring sheets and the Scoring Summary sheet is attached.
At its March 12th Public Meeting, the Community Development Advisory Committee heard presentations from CDBG Public Service applicants in order to make Public Service and other funding recommendations as part of the FY 2020-2021 Annual Action Plan. The Committee subsequently met with Staff in a virtual Public Meeting on June 25, 2020 at which agreement was reached on the funding recommendations contained in the FY 2020-2021 Annual Action Plan. OHUI requests approval of the Plan so that it can be advertised for the required 30-day public comment period and submitted to HUD.
The CDBG-CV 3rd round was announced on September 11, 2020 and funds will be utilized to help Small Businesses recoup from the COVID-19 economic impact and provide Rental Assistance for the residents impacted by this pandemic.
