Summary Explanation/Background:
On September 25, 2018, the City Commission adopted Resolution No. 2018-275, approving the Transportation System Surtax lnterlocal Agreement (" ILA") with Broward County ("County"), the Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization ("MPO"), and other Broward municipalities ("Municipalities"), for purposes of implementing the Transportation Surtax Program. On July 23, 2019, the City Commission adopted Resolution No. 2019-239, approving the First Amendment to the ILA and on January 26, 2021 , Resolution No. 2021-58 approving the Second Amendment to the ILA.
Over the past year+ the Broward County City Manager's Association Surtax Subcommittee ("BCCMA"), made up of 6-7 cities (Pompano Beach was represented by Assistant City Manager Suzette Sibble) representing the interests of the 31 municipalities participating in the penny for surtax program worked diligently with Broward County surtax staff and the County Administrator to effect a 3rd amendment to the ILA. The objective of which was to create a more practical and efficient process for carrying out the surtax program objectives, mutually beneficial to all participating entities. This effort required many meetings between County staff and the BCCMA Surtax Subcommittee, as well as approval of the majority membership of the BCCMA (31 municipalities). This agenda i...
