summary
Summary Explanation/Background:
Odyssey Manufacturing Company is offering the City of Pompano Beach to piggyback the Clay County Utility Authority (CCUA) contract, which was renewed March 7, 2025, and has two additional one-year renewals to purchase Sodium Hypochlorite. The use of sodium hypochlorite is necessary for the production of drinking water at the Water Treatment Plant and for the production of reuse water at the City of Pompano Beach Reuse Treatment Plant. It is used as a disinfectant (~12% chlorine) and is part of the treatment process at each plant.
The cost to purchase sodium hypochlorite under this Clay County Utility Authority (CCUA) contract after May 23, 2025 will be $1.53 per gallon per tanker load, delivered, with no fuel surcharges. This is an increase of 16% over the current cost for this chemical. Clay County Utility Authority (CCUA) and Odyssey Manufacturing Company have agreed to let The City of Pompano Beach continue to piggyback off of their competitively bid / negotiated contract.
Origin of request for this action: Utilities
Fiscal impact and source of funding: As-needed deliveries of Sodium Hypochlorite budgeted in accounts 412-3320-533.52-05 & 412-3340-533.52-05
