A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF POMPANO BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SUBMIT A GRANT APPLICATION IN THE AMOUNT UP TO $200,000.00 TO THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY FOR FLORIDA RECREATION DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM FOR THE PURPOSE OF OBTAINING FUNDS TO ASSIST WITH THE APPROVED PROJECT FOR NORTH POMPANO HARDSCAPE AND LANDSCAPE; CONFIRMING THE CITY’S CONTRIBUTION IN AN AMOUNT UP TO $200,000.00; AND, IF AWARDED, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT THE FUNDS AND EXECUTE ALL APPROPRIATE DOCUMENTS; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

Summary Explanation/Background:
The Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department is preparing a Florida Recreation Development Assistant Program (FRDAP) Grant Application for Improvements to North Pompano Park. The full application is presently being prepared and will be submitted online. The grant amount will be up to $200,000 in FRDAP grant funds to be used for the renovation and conversion of existing baseball fields to rectangular fields at North Pompano Park. The resolution authorizes staff to submit the grant application, confirms the approved Capital Improvement Funds and authorizes the City Manager to accept the grant funds if awarded.
