summary

Summary Explanation/Background:

Background:
There is a current project underway at the City’s Water Treatment Plant, which consists of work related to the hurricane hardening and exterior repairs of four (4) critical facilities at the treatment plant site. During the course of performing his work the contractor noticed similar exterior deficiencies at the exterior of high service pump 5 & 6 building. The contractors’ original scope of work did not encompass any repairs to the high service pump 5 & 6 building.  Once a thorough examination of the high service pump building was complete, it was determined that the city could benefit now by having the current contractor complete this needed Hurricane Hardening work at this critical facility, as well.

Recommendation:
Staff recommends issuance of a change order to include envelope hardening and surface repairs to this critical building.  Because the contractor is already on site and performing work, there are no mobilization costs.
