Summary Explanation/Background:
Pompano Automotive Associates, LLC (“Pompano Automotive”) has indicated a desire enter into an annual License Agreement with the City to utilize the property identified as Broward County Property Appraiser Folio 4843 19 00 0240 located directly west of the Charlotte J. Burrie Civic Center (“Burrie Center”) for parking. Pompano Automotive had been utilizing the former Elks Club property owned by the City for parking of vehicles. Now that construction is beginning on the Youth Sports Complex G.O. Bond Project the property is no longer available for their use.
In September 2020 the City purchased the property west of the Burrie Center for the construction of a future western access road to the Burrie Center. The Burrie Center has been closed to the public for almost a year due to COVID-19 delaying the need to construct the access road. Licensing the property to Pompano Automotive will allow the City to generate $19,500 annually in revenue until the access road is constructed.
Staff is requesting City Commission approval to enter into a License Agreement with Pompano Automotive Associates, LLC.
