summary

Summary Explanation/Background:

Section 166.241, Florida Statutes, permits municipalities to amend their budgets within 60 days following the end of the fiscal year. The proposed resolution amends the FY 2026 budget to appropriate funding from the Local Law Enforcement Trust Fund (LETF) for transfer to the General Capital Fund to support expenditures associated with the Public Safety Technology Infrastructure project. It also increases the appropriation in the LETF to reflect actual expenditures associated with the Gun Buy Back Program and other minor accounts.
The Public Safety Technology Infrastructure project is an allowable use of LETF funding. The proposed transfer would replace previously appropriated funding for the project, making those funds available to support capital improvement projects in FY 2027. The funding strategy associated with the Public Safety Technology Project was discussed with the City Commission during both the June and July budget workshops and is consistent with the Commission's actions in adopting the FY 2027 budget.
