Summary Explanation/Background:
Staff is requesting the use of Local Law Enforcement Trust Fund (LETF) monies to be used to purchase:
1) Two (2) variable message boards (VMB) to be utilized for an enhanced public information program for residents. The new message boards have new technology including but not limited to bluetooth, radar and may be used for multiple purposes involving interaction with residents. Cost of 2 VMB’s would be $32,116.00 in total.
2) Five (5) new patrol bicycles. A significant part of the road patrol duties utilizing the Community Policing model will be bicycle patrols. Cost of 5 patrol bicycles would be $7,324.65 in total.

Fiscal impact and source of funding: 39,440.65 from Local Law Enforcement Trust Fund (LETF) with the attached budget adjustment.
