summary
Summary Explanation/Background:
This is part of the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Regional Grant Application for fire station alerting systems that will help address a mandate from Broward County regarding the implementation of new regional communications infrastructure. If funded, the City of Pompano Beach would be provided four (4) basic alerting systems with 85% of the cost ($185,325.22) borne by the AFG grant and only a 15% match ($27,798.78) required by City. The caveat is the City would have to reserve $2,664,050.00 to, essentially, serve as the bank for the region. The entire amount would be reimbursed to the City by the AFG grant and the participating cities for their matching amount. Prior to any purchase the City would invoice the participating cities for their share of the costs. No equipment or deliverables would be purchased on the behalf of any participating city until the City is provided their share of costs not covered by the AFG grant.

Origin of request for this action: Fire Administration
Fiscal impact and source of funding: $2,664,050.00 from account 120-8094-587.64-45 with the attached budget adjustment. $2,316,565.20 to be provided by the AFG grant, $27,798.78 to be provided by the City, $347,484.80 to be provided by the other participating cities.
