summary

Summary Explanation/Background:

The attached memo discusses the accomplishments of student athlete, Mr. Lamar Jackson, and specifically his earning the Heisman trophy award in 2016 while playing at the University of Louisville.   To recognize Mr. Jackson’s achievements, this agenda item requests the City Commission consider designating NW 9th Court, a dual named road as “Lamar Jackson Court”.  The dual naming of the street is bound by Charles Drew Elementary School on the west and Charles Drew Family Resource Center on the east.  If the City Commission decides to dual name NW 9th Court, a resolution will be presented at the following meeting to formalize the change.

Origin of request for this action: Mayor Fisher

Fiscal impact and source of funding: $500 from public works operational maintenance account 001-3060-530.46-10
