Summary Explanation/Background:
On July 23rd, 2013 Commission approved a "District Four Highway Maintenance Memorandum of Agreement" (Exhibit A) between City and the State of Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) to allow the FDOT to perform the following two (2) projects within City right-of-way as part of a County wide bicycle mobility project:

1. S. Cypress Road from E. McNab Road to East Atlantic Boulevard: mill and resurface roadway to create wide outside lane bike sharrow markings on both sides of corridor.

2. E. McNab Road, from S. Cypress Road to N. Federal Highway: widen, mill and resurface roadway to create bike facilities on both sides of the corridor.

On July 13, 2016 the City hosted a meeting with residents from the McNab Road Community, Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), and the FDOT to discuss details regarding the portion of the project involving E. McNab Road. The majority of residents present were in strong opposition to this portion of the project moving forward, citing potential safety concerns and drainage issues along with impact to existing trees. Based on the outcome from this meeting, we informed residents that we would temporarily suspend this portion of the project to review alternative designs. The residents subsequently conducted a poll in their community which also revealed 95% opposition to this portion of the project.
