summary

Summary Explanation/Background:

Staff is seeking approval of an Ordinance to execute an amendment to an existing agreement with The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company (WT) (see Exhibit 1). This amendment will authorize WT to proceed with construction management at risk services for improvements on MLK Boulevard from NW 6th Avenue to I-95 (see Location map). This GO Bond funded project is the continuation of a Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) funded initiative to improve MLK Boulevard from Dixie Highway to I-95 and act as a catalyst to future improvements in the Innovation District. The project entails replacing and widening existing sidewalks, new landscape medians, upgraded street lighting and street furniture, improved underground utilities (i.e., water, sewer and drainage), and resurfacing the roadway.

Origin of request for this action: GO Bond - City Commission

Fiscal impact and source of funding: $5,700,000.00, Account No. 318-7634-530.65-12 Construction.
