summary
Summary Explanation/Background:
Staff is seeking City Commission approval to submit a grant application to the Florida Inland Navigation District (FIND) to build a floating dockage facility with capacity for three (3) vessels. The purpose of this Resolution is to meet FIND application requirements and to submit the application for consideration. Staff will have an opportunity to continue evaluating the merits of this application and to move forward, if warranted. The dockage area is proposed on South Florida Water Management District waters directly south and east of the McNab Road Bridge (see Location Map). Staff identified this opportunity to apply for a FIND grant that, if approved, would pay for up to 50% of the anticipated costs ($200,000.00). Once constructed the dockage area would serve to attract boaters to the aforementioned location. Staff anticipates boaters to dock and use the new proposed sidewalks on McNab Road to navigate the area and visit multiple business including existing restaurants, beauty salons, cleaners, bars, etc.
