Summary Explanation/Background:
This is part of an Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Regional Grant Application with the City of Sunrise for new public safety portable radios. This regional grant application for nine (9) fire rescue agencies will provide replacement portable radios that will be compatible with the new public safety regional communications system in Broward County. The City of Pompano Beach is requesting AFG grant funding for our portion of the portable radios at a total cost of $420,933.00. If the grant is awarded, the AFG would fund $382,666.36 and Pompano Beach would be responsible for the remaining $38,266.64 (10%). As such, this grant will help fund a substantial number of the needed radios that must be purchased for the new public safety regional communications system. In order to participate in this grant, a memorandum of understanding with the City of Sunrise is required.
