summary
Summary Explanation/Background:
The City of Pompano Beach is located in an area that is vulnerable to natural and man-made disasters; and the City supports reasonable efforts to make the community better prepared for future disasters and better able to recover after disaster strikes. The State of Florida has stipulated that a Local Mitigation Strategy (LMS) is the first step in the process of making a community better prepared to manage disasters. By adopting the Broward County October 2012 Revision of the Local Mitigation Strategy, the framework for future mitigation efforts and post-disaster recovery may be made easier and faster.
The 2022 Countywide Enhanced Local Mitigation Strategy (ELMS) is in compliance with the local hazard mitigation requirements of Section 322 of the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 (DMA2K) as implemented in 44 C.F.R., Part 201
