Summary Explanation/Background:
Due to the COVID-19 Virus and numerous Emergency Orders from Federal, State, County and Municipal authorities, local government cannot safely conduct their public business meetings in the usual manner. The agreements listed below were required to be approved and signed by the City Officials during the absence of available City Commission review. Additionally, since the May 12, 2020 City Commission meeting was timing was crucial for staff to ascertain the signatures of the Mayor, City Manager, City Attorney and City Clerk for these agreements.
Contract No. 1 is the 7th Amendment for Police Services between the City and the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
Contract No.2 is the Agreement between Broward County and the City for reimbursement of one-time water bill discount for City residents on the County water system.
Origin of request for this action: BSO/City Manager
Fiscal impact and source of funding: BSO 7th Amendment - Fiscal Impact: $191,102; County Water Discount Agreement - Fiscal Impact: Approximately $250,000; County shall calculate the total cost of discount to be reimbursed by the City. $441,102 from General Fund Fund Balance with attached budget adjustment.
